Data Zetu: Geospatial Data 4 Climate Mobility The lack of general data sets providing linkages between climate and migration is an undeniable gap in the African context, institutions and communities have only been able to deduce trends from climate induced mobility related cases arising frequently in societies. Due to the complex and intersectional nature of issues in the mobility nexus, tackling climate induced mobility challenges from a web of other possible causes can be exasperating, even more complex for a country like Tanzania that hosts more than 240,000 refugees. This project is using geospatial technology to solve the climate mobility data gap and inform required food security and planning interventions.

Data Deep Dive: Local Women Fishers Project - Lake Tanganyika and Coastal Dar es Salaam Areas. No Taka conducted a deep dive case study analysis. These regions are home to numerous small fishing communities that rely heavily on water activities for their livelihoods. These communities face challenges such as limited access to basic services, inadequate infrastructure, and environmental degradation. After a GIS analysis, we included a total of 200 smallholder fishers and community members in this project, collecting their views and conducting small-scale capacity-building sessions to support them.
Co - Creation Labs A technology-driven initiative that unites young professionals from various fields to address the pressing challenges of climate change through a collaborative design approach. One notable example is our Young Data Scientists and Journalists Lab, which focuses on combating misinformation and underreporting surrounding climate migration and refugee issues. Through this innovative lab, we bring together talented individuals in data science and journalism to analyse and report on the complexities of climate-induced migration and its impact on vulnerable communities. By combining their expertise, these young professionals work towards raising awareness, promoting accurate information, and advocating for the rights and well-being of climate migrants and refugees. The Co-Creation Lab at No Taka Eco-Hub serves as a platform for young minds to collaborate, innovate, and drive positive change in addressing the urgent climate challenges we face today.
Eco-Circles for Schools Introducing the No Taka Eco Circle for Schools, a program that fosters climate change awareness and action through partnerships with local schools in Tanzania. We have established vibrant climate change school clubs in collaboration with several schools in Dar es Salaam, with over 400 active members. Through the No Taka Eco Circle for Schools, we engage students in interactive activities, workshops, and projects that promote environmental consciousness and sustainable practices. By empowering young minds to become change agents in their communities, we aim to create a generation of environmentally conscious individuals who actively contribute to addressing climate change. We are proud to collaborate with local schools in Tanzania to cultivate a sense of responsibility and inspire collective action towards a greener and more sustainable future. Together, we can make a significant impact in combating climate change and creating a better world for generations to come.
